What is the Green Busness Tourist Scheme? It started in 1997 and has been championing sustainable tourism in the UK, and has become the largest and most successful scheme of its type in the world with over 1100 members, Its aim is to ensure that the UK remains at the forefront of sustainable tourism It promotes both quality and the environment, two themes at the heart of sustainable tourism. Last year GTBS members saved £1.5 million and reduced Carbon Dioxide emissions by 7000 tonnes! The scheme criteria covers over 120 measures of sustainability and after assesment businesses are awarded BRONZE (good basic environmental practice) SILVER (Very good environmental practice) GOLD (Excellence in environmental practice) |
We have recently been assessed and now proudly hold a silver Green Tourist Business Award for very good enviromnetal practices, we whole heartedly support the scheme and other businesses with awards, awaiting grading or have good ethical and enviromental practises. |
